Features & Composition

Water Composition – Typical analysis

Icelandic Glacial is bottled at the source from the legendary Ölfus Spring, to provide our customers around the world with a product of the very highest quality and exceptional purity, boasting a Total Dissolved Solid (TDS) level of 62 mg/l.

Dissolved Solids or minerals affect the taste and balance of an individual water and the ideal level is considered to be anywhere between 50 - 120 parts per million.

Certain elements such as Calcium adversely affect the taste of water and can also result in undesirable physical effects. When water is boiled or frozen the calcium is precipitated out and causes scaling in kettles or the flecking of ice cubes.

By comparison - ice cubes made from Icelandic Glacial are crystal clear and kettles don't fur up either when using our water.

The PH level of Icelandic Glacial is 8.4.

You can be sure that the first time this water comes into contact with open air is when you break the seal on your bottle and nothing is ever added in or taken out.

Purification/Treatment Method

Icelandic Glacial Natural Spring Water has been found to be naturally free of impurities; however, in the interest of excess caution, our water goes through the purification methods listed below.

Filtration – source water passes through 5 µm and 1 µm filters.

Ultra violet light (UV) disinfection – ultra violet light destroys micro-organisms and provides an additional level of safety and quality.

Testing & Certifications

On-going testing is completed to ensure Icelandic Glacial Water meets top food safety and quality standards. Icelandic Water Holdings bottling plant and finished products are fully accredited by NSF and meet or exceed Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and World Health Organization (WHO) requirements. NSF is recognized as being the world’s leading third party standards certification authority.

Both Icelandic Glacial’s source and the company’s premises are also regularly inspected by the Icelandic Public Health Authority, which carries out stringent tests to ensure the plant is operating in compliance with WHO standards. In addition to governmental requirements, Icelandic Glacial carries out extensive daily testing within its own in-house laboratory.
